This isn’t just another coffee shop. MamGu have taken the traditional Welsh cake and completely flipped it on its head, turning it into both sweet treats and proper savoury dishes — and it works.

Our visit

We popped down for lunch and it was easy to see why it’s becoming a popular spot on the harbour.

Relaxed atmosphere, friendly team, and a great place to sit and watch everything going on around the harbour while you eat.

We all enjoyed our lunch, from Cawl with crusty bread & a chunk of Welsh cheese and fresh bread, including a delicious cheese and leek savoury Welsh cake, Posh ham, egg and chips from the specials board and a Brechdan Rueben, Like a Rueben but Welsh... Award-winning Trailhead Salt Beef, MamGu pickles & mayo, Swiss cheese, toasted bread topped with rarebit. All delicious with genuinely excellent food and atmosphere to match, you couldn’t ask for a better spot to sit back and relax.

Prices are what you’d expect for a quality harbour-side café — not the cheapest, but you can taste the difference.

A bit of background

MamGu originally started over in St Davids and have built a strong following for their take on Welsh cakes and Welsh comfort food.

They’ve brought that same concept over to Saundersfoot, and it’s a great addition to the harbour.
