Puffin Cottage Holidays is delighted to introduce this wonderfully quirky ground floor apartment at Laston House, a Grade Two listed building in one of Tenby’s most enviable seafront locations. Full of character, charm and fascinating history, this unique two-bedroom apartment offers a truly memorable seaside escape, with beautiful views towards the sea and Tenby’s coastline.

Unlike the Garden Apartment below, which would have formed part of the bathing area when Laston House was Tenby’s first public saltwater bath house, the first floor was once home to the tearoom. Today, the apartment celebrates this wonderful part of its history, with an antique table and chairs, an elegant antique sideboard, traditional tea set and cake stand providing a charming nod to its former life.

Laston House was built by Sir William Paxton in 1811 as Tenby’s first public saltwater bath house. The Greek inscription on the building translates as “The sea washes away the ills of men”, reflecting the original purpose of this fascinating building. Later sold and privately owned, Laston House was eventually divided into separate accommodation, with many of its original features and historical connections still adding to its unique character today.

The apartment enjoys a prime seafront position, close to Tenby Harbour, Castle Beach, North Beach and the historic town centre. Step outside and Tenby’s cobbled streets, independent shops, cafés, restaurants and traditional pubs are all within easy reach. Explore the town walls and castle ruins, visit the museum or simply spend your days wandering between Tenby’s beautiful beaches.

For those wishing to explore further afield, Pembrokeshire offers an abundance of beautiful beaches, coastal walks, attractions and activities, making Laston House a wonderful base for discovering the area.

The apartment itself is full of character, with an eclectic mix of antique-style furnishings, traditional details and comfortable seating. Large windows throughout make the most of the spectacular coastal setting, while the quirky layout and historic features give the property a wonderfully individual feel.

Access to the apartment is through the main entrance of Laston House. The hallway immediately sets the tone for this characterful property, with beautiful antique mosaic tiles adding to the charm and giving a glimpse into the history of this fascinating building.

Kitchen

The kitchen is compact but well equipped with everything needed for a self-catering stay. Facilities include a fridge with freezer compartment, oven, hob and extractor fan, microwave, toaster, kettle, washing machine and tumble dryer.

Lounge & Dining Area

The beautiful lounge is a real feature of the apartment, with large windows allowing you to enjoy the ever-changing views across the sea. Three comfortable sofas and two armchairs provide plenty of space to relax after a day exploring Tenby.

The dining area has a wonderful period feel, with an antique dining table and chairs taking centre stage alongside a beautiful antique sideboard. A traditional tea set and cake stand sit proudly on the sideboard, a charming reminder of the room’s history as Laston House’s former tearoom.

For those who simply want to sit and watch the world go by, there are antique-style chairs positioned beside the large windows, with a side table providing the perfect spot for a cup of tea or morning coffee while watching the boats out on the sea.

Master Bedroom

The spacious master bedroom has a luxurious super king-size bed, wardrobe, dressing table, bedside tables and lamps. Continuing the apartment’s wonderfully quirky and traditional style, an antique chair sits beside the window, providing a lovely spot to sit and watch the boats making their way along the coast.

Twin Bedroom

The twin bedroom is furnished with two single beds, bedside tables and lamps, a wardrobe and TV. The room also benefits from its own washbasin and is adjoining the master bedroom, making this a particularly convenient arrangement for families or friends travelling together.

Family Bathroom

The family bathroom has a traditional feel and comprises a bath with shower over, washbasin with mirror and toilet.
